I think of the children and friends of those who died in the attacks on Sept. 11 and find myself wondering if there is something about the people we learn to admire and trust -- those people who look at us with such an unflinching eyes, and who speak with such conviction; those who have fought, died, and bled with each other, and who in times of trouble, would make us understand.
